June 29th saw us departing Derby for the second time and heading towards Broome. The trip was short and the roads were good meaning we arrived just before lunch at the Broome Gateway Caravan Park. This park is some 20 minutes East of Broome but met our needs for this visit as we were able to arrange caravan storage for a reasonable fee. Nightly tariff is some $20-25 cheaper than the Broome parks as well which is a bit of a bonus. Park is a bit of a farmstay with water but no power. Amenity block is good and very clean though. 3.5 Stars for these.
We were able to get nice large drive through sites with the bonus of being able to leave our caravans in place while in storage. Big benefit as saved us two extra moves with the caravans. Host David was very accommodating with our requests. As a bonus they had a charity sausage sizzle and entertainment the night we were there. Funnily enough it was the same entertainer that we saw in both Marys Pool and Derby.
Once setup on the caravan spots we drove into Broome for some shopping and lunch. Enjoyed a nice lunch with the girls getting some gluten free wraps. We made a quick trip to Bunnings for gas refill etc before doing some grocery/grog shopping. We also found the prevoting site to complete our ballots for the election given we will be camping remotely on the election day.
We returned to the camp in late afternoon where we took part in the sausage sizzle and the entertainment. We were able to catch up with the girls re Skype as well. Final preparations for our Cape Leveque/Middle Lagoon trip were completed.
