Mudgee, New South Wales

Sunday June 19th saw us make the short journey from Dunedoo to Mudgee. The traffic was light on a Sunday and the road was good. We arrived late morning and checked into the Riverside Caravan Park. The park gives a CMCA discount that we weren't aware of which was good. Our site was a good size with a concrete pad. Lots of leaves on the ground and a bit of wind to keep them falling. The amenity block was good and kept lovely and clean. 4 Stars.

Sandra got started on some laundry before we took a short walk into town. This was our first visit to Mudgee and we were very impressed with the town. Lots of beautiful old buildings and unique shops. Lovely parks and walkways along the river as well to explore.

Monday morning Justine arrived to spend a couple of days with us. We had her booked into a cabin which was directly behind our caravan site. We did a bit of sightseeing with Justine and took in a couple of vineyard visits. Had some lovely cheese and wine tastings at Gilbert & Gilbert where we bought a nice bottle of wine and some fetta. We also visited "The Short Sheep" vineyard which was interesting. We enjoyed some visiting and another walk along the river bank later in the afternoon.

Sunday we did some more walking and a bit of shopping in Mudgee. Sandra & Jussie checked out a few boutiques for wedding dresses. No luck but we had a good time looking. We had a lovely lunch at a local cafĂ© before Justine had to return to Wolgan Valley. A great visit with her.

We extended our stay by a day as we both really liked Mudgee. Did a bit more shopping and walking around the town on the Monday. I tried on a couple of suits and we found one we liked. Unfortunately, they didn't have the pants in my size so I will need to keep looking.

The afternoon was spent with another long walk where we found some interesting metal sculptures/artwork focussing on caravans. We had planned to tour "The Drip" but ran out of time. Will need to do on our next trip. We were quite taken with Mudgee and will return again.

Tuesday was our final day of this adventure as we returned to Stephanie's place in Heddon Greta. We spent a few days here getting Sandra's hair cut, our vehicle serviced, and some visiting with Stephanie and Tim. We went shopping on the Saturday and were able to find a suit for me to wear at the wedding. Funnily enough it was the same one we had spotted in Mudgee. We will pick it up and have the alterations done closer to the big day. Great to spend time with both our girls before returning home! We also had lunch at Heddon Greta Pub with most of Sandra's sisters/husbands as well as Aunty Val & Diane.

Another wonderful adventure comes to a close. Can't wait for the next one!
