The caravan park at Blackall was small but nice and green. After lunch we did a tour of Blackall which is a very nice little town. We stopped at the "Black Stump" which is actually a piece of petrified wood.
Our next stop was at the Blackall Woolscour. We were a bit leery of the $15/person cost but it turned out to be good value. We watched a short video about the Wool industry before an older local woman gave us a tour of the Woolscour which is a place where they cleaned wool. This woolscour also included a large shearing shed which had recently been used as a demonstration. This woolscour has been restored and most of the equipment and steam engines are still working. Our guide added to the experience as she had been in Blackall when the woolscour was still in use and knew a lot about the process and the machinery involved. Very interesting!
We finished off with a short drive around the town looking at a number of old buildings and statues. Found a nice park run by the council for caravans to stop at. Would use on a future trip.
