March 2nd & 3rd, 2012- Esperance Seafront Caravan Park- Top Tourist

Friday after our beach excursion at Dunn Rock we packed up and headed the 60Km into Esperance. Setup at the Seafront Caravan Park near Di & Terry. We spent the afternoon doing some cleaning and catching up on computer work etc. We had a lovely baked dinner for tea with the six of us. Delicious!

Saturday morning the Ransleys and Bewells set off to explore Esperance and it's coastline. Our first stop was the Rotary Lookout at the top of Wireless Hill. From here you had a great 360 degree view of Esperance and its coastline. We met a family group there from Freemantle that had chartered a bus for the long weekend. They were a fun group and as luck would have it we continued to run into them at many of our stops down the coast.

I will just summarise our day by saying all the beaches as unbelievable. I know you are probably tired about us describing the beautiful beaches but you just have to see them to believe it. This region is by far the most beautiful coastline that we have seen to date on our trip. The stretch we did today probably had about 10 beaches in 20KM; all of them beautiful and surprisingly uncrowded. Even though this is a long weekend we could have easily found 3 or 4 of the beaches where we would have been completely by ourselves. AMAZING! I will just give a brief description of each with photos for your enjoyment. Lots more in the March picture folder if you are keen to see even more!

Our first stop was West Beach where we stopped at a few view points .

Next stop was Salmon Beach. The girls walked down on to some rocks here where they could get some pictures of Salmon Beach and Fourth Beach.

We stopped at a lookout over Fourth Beach which is in Twilight Bay. We had morning tea overlooking the bay which was wonderful. Even saw a pod of Dolphins swimming in the surf below us. Twilight Beach is at the Western end of this bay. This would possibly be one of the top views of our trip.

On to Twilight Beach where we met up with the tour bus group again. Carol and Sandra enjoyed laying in the sun while Stephen and I swam out to a rock outcrop you could climb and jump off. Had a great time cooling off and having fun. Beautiful beach with nice picnic area and toilet block. Also has a surf life saving club and is a monitored beach.

Next beach was Picnic Beach which was beautiful as well.

Observatory Point was our next stop which was a lookout that we walked up to. Beautiful views!

Next came 9 Mile Beach

Followed by 10 Mile Lagoon and Free Beach. Free Beach is a nudie beach but unfortunately was deserted when we were there.

Surprise, surprise that 11 Mile Beach was next. We continued on the road past here inland to the Pink Lake. This was a bit of a disappointment as wasn't pink. Luckily we had seen the Pink Lake near Port Gregory which was very pink earlier in our WA adventure.

We decided to return via the same route to view all the wonderful beaches again. We stopped at Twilight Beach for our picnic lunch and also stopped at Blue Haven Beach which we had missed on the way out. Very nice!

Made it back to the caravan park in the early afternoon. We did some shopping at Woolies before beginning our pack up for Kalgoorlie. Esperance is a beautiful area and we could certainly see ourselves living along the South West coast of Western Australia. If only it wasn't so far from family and friends. We would highly recommend a trip from Perth to Esperance via the coastline for all our friends and family!
