We setup our caravans then we took a 3-4KM walk along the inlet and back via the road. The inlet was very windy and lots of foam was blowing on the shoreline. Beautiful Zamia (Cycad) trees were abundant as were massive Banksia Trees. We arrived back at the camp in time to enjoy happy hour with Doug and Jan.

February 28th, 2012- Stokes Inlet National Park- Campsite
Tuesday morning we were off towards Esperance. We decided to break up the trip a bit so we could get into Esperance early on Wednesday to try and get spots at Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park. We have been told by several people that it is a great place to stay but you have to get there early. Stokes Inlet was a pleasant surprise. It was about 5Km south of the highway on gravel road. It is a beautiful campground recently renovated. It has a few lovely large secluded sites, one of which all 3 of us camped in. Toilets were modern and clean. As an added bonus we ran into some people we had met a few times earlier in our trip. Doug and Jan were taking over as the camp hosts for March and April. These are volunteer positions where you receive free accommodation, gas, and diesel for your efforts. They have been doing it for some time now and this is the third time they have been back at Stokes Inlet.

We were tempted to stay another night as was a beautiful spot and there were a few other things to see from there. In the end we decided to move on as we want to be setup in Esperance before the long weekend. We would probably return here another time if the opportunity presents itself.
