Monday morning the five of us less Terry did some touring around Walpole. We explored the Nornalup Inlet from the opposite side before heading to Hilltop Lookout and the Giant Tingle Tree.
The view from the lookout over the Ocean and the Inlet was very nice while the Giant Tingle trees were amazing! Did a short walk through these giant trees with lots of photo stops.
We returned to the caravan park for lunch before the Ransleys and Bewells headed off for the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. Both Sandra and Stephen are a bit afraid of heights so was quite an interesting experience. We all survived the first round although very nervously for a couple of us. We decided to do a second time so we could relax and enjoy a bit more. Very impressive as the walk is 40M at its highest point and you truly are near the tops of these giant trees. Hard to believe the Bicentennial Karri tree at Pemberton was almost twice this high! The Tingle trees while not as high are much larger diameters at the base. Once we completed the tree top walk the second time we walked through the Valley of the Giants walk which is equally impressive from the ground level. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.
Tuesday morning Terry, Stephen, and I were up early to try our luck at fishing. We were up and on our way to Sandy Beach by 6AM. Terry had caught some crabs for us the day before for bait. The waters were quite still with very little wind. Not a lot of success as Rans caught one Bream we could keep. We caught a couple others that didn't quite meet the legal limits, that we released. It was a beautiful morning with dolphins swimming back and forth farther out in the inlet.
We returned for breakfast before the Ransleys and Bewells headed out sightseeing again. We headed East towards Denmark with our first stop at Parry Beach. We checked out the campground there as we had been told it was a good cheap site. The location was quite good with a good size campground. Unfortunately the caretaker there was not the most friendly woman and they did have height limitations on caravans. We toured the campground and although many vans were as high as ours; we decided against heading there as was dependent on the mood of the caretaker whether ours or the Butler's van would be allowed in.
Our next stop was Peaceful Bay. This is a beautiful location with a wonderful large caravan park. The bay is very peaceful and sheltered so would be great for swimming and fishing. We had lunch at a picnic ground near the beach before heading off on our travels.
We travelled the back roads from here West to Conspicuous Cliffs. A unexpected highlight of this part of Australia is the large number of native flowering gums. We stopped and got a few photos on our way to the Cliffs.
Conpicuous Cliffs is another wonderful part of Australia. We first climbed a rather steep walk with lots of steps to a wooden viewing platform. From here you could see the beach below and the cliffs to either side. One of the nicest pieces of coastline we have seen so far. We then proceeded down to the beach where we spent some time taking pictures and walking to the Western end of the beach. Very beautiful colours and a surprisingly strong swell. Would need to be very careful swimming here because of rip currents.
We headed home from here with a bit of touring of some of the residential areas of Walpole. Had an easy tea and did some packing up for our trip to Denmark tomorrow. We would have probably stayed at Peaceful Bay but decided it was too close to Walpole. Maybe next time as is a beautiful location.
