Sunday July 24th saw us take the short trip North to the Douglas Daly Resort near Douglas Hot Springs. The caravan park was very nice and shaded. Full facilities and everything was nice and clean. Limited Mobile coverage was the only downside. We set up camp before lunch and took a drive down to a number of creek locations on the property in the afternoon. Very nice remote camping areas and beautiful creek locations on the Douglas River. We had a dip in a few of them which was refreshing as was a hot day.
Monday morning we went to the Douglas Hot Springs. These hot springs are very hot and you have to be careful which areas you go in as some are almost 60 degrees Celcius. There are some cooler pools as well. We had a little bit of a soak before returning to campground for lunch.
After lunch the Ransleys and Bewells took the Oolloo Road down to the Daly River Crossing. It was quite an amazing drive as there was a little bit of everything on our 30km trip. Pasture land, watermelon farm, cattle stations, wetlands, bush, creek crossings, and lots of wildlife. We have a number of pictures but the unique part was that so many different things could be seen in such a short distance.
We walked down to the Daly River at the end of the track where we saw a crocodile on the far bank. Other people there said it was a Salt Water (dangerous) one; but I wasn't sure. I wasn't going to swim over and ask it at least. When we arrived back near camp we found Terry fishing on the bridge. Not much luck but a huge snake on the road between him and his car. Believe it is a water python but didn't pick it up to check.
